The Center for Research and Development of Higher Education is working on improving the quality of education related to the University of Tokyo as a whole and supporting activities for that purpose.
The worldwide epidemic of the new coronavirus infection, which began in 2020, has forced the University of Tokyo to adopt online education. At this center, we have been disseminating information on how to use online tools and how to use them effectively so that educational activities in each school can be carried out smoothly.
Currently, the importance of digital transformation (DX) has been pointed out in various fields, and the field of education is no exception. To promote this reform, our center promotes reform of educational digital transformation in addition to existing services such as supporting online (the University of Tokyo’s regular class online distribution (OCW), public online course (MOOC), public course and event video distribution (Todai TV), e-Learning Forum (eLF)), faculty development (The University of Tokyo Future Faculty Program (UTokyo FFP), The University of Tokyo Global Future Faculty Development Program (UTokyo Global FFDP), Interactive Teaching, Consultation, etc.), Educational Information Dissemination, Language Education Dissemination, etc.
Of course, this reform cannot be achieved by our center alone. We will develop these projects in close cooperation with all the educational schools and the Information Technology Center, as well as other organizations related to DX promotion in the University of Tokyo. To nurture many human resources who will play a central role in the future society, the Center for Research and Development of Higher Education will continue to devise and contribute to the deepening of education at the University of Tokyo.

The Educational Planning Office is the core of the Center’s institutional reform. The Center’s foremost mission is both to advance undergraduate education and to make contributions towards this goal through research studies. With this aim in mind, the Educational Planning Office promotes the reform of undergraduate education and the university evaluation system through basic efforts including actively participating in university-wide improvement efforts and cooperating with the activities of the Education Steering Committee.
