Division for Learning Environment and Educational Technology

Active Learning

Working with the College of Arts and Sciences and the Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies, we have contributed to the development and operation of The University of Tokyo’s first ICT-supported collaborative teaching facility, known as the “Komaba Active Learning Studio (KALS).” We also have supported the operation of K201, a studio-type classroom for active learning housed in “21KOMCEE” (the 21 Komaba Center for Educational Excellence). In 2014, we have started a new project with the General Library of The University of Tokyo, discussing the operation of a “Learning Plaza”. Additionally, in cooperation with the Group of Educational Affairs, we have implemented regular investigations to get information about projects or events for Faculty Development that are planned and implemented by each department of the university. In addition to these projects, we aim to produce people who can design and develop an innovative learning environment. As part of this effort, supervision is being provided to students in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies.
